Files

These are the two files you need to create an accessible test for students with special needs:
  • current_test.txt  (this is the Notes template you need to modify so that it matches the album names chosen in Audacity.  You also need to remove the leading zero if you're using less than 10 questions.
  • preferences.txt  (this file will lock down the iPod when transfered to the Notes folder.  To unlock the iPod, remove this file from the Notes folder).

More Complext Tests:

These two files will help you create a test with multiple sections, with different sets of instructions for each section.

  • automate_iPod_Tests.xls (use this Excel file along with the matching PDF instructions at the bottom of this page to create the Notes template for a more complex test with multiple sections).

PDF Instructions

Using a PC to Make Tests Accessible on an iPod.pdf

These instructions will work on a Mac as well, since Audacity and iTunes are cross-platform programs.  You can use any text editor, not just Notepad.

Using_Excel_to_Make_Tests_Accessible_on_an_iPod-1.pdf

These are the instructions for creating a more complex test that has more than one section.  The matching Excel file is in the Files section of this page.

Movies

This movie demonstrates the steps for creating an accessible test:
